The overriding theme throughout this center is stomach cancer screening and prevention, with emphasis on the modification of the disease's natural course, the identification of risk factors, the innovation of novel biomarkers, and the design, implementation, and evaluation of the population-based preventive programs. The center has developed multiple approaches that can be readily generalized to different populations with gastric cancer health disparities, by reaching out to the individuals, mapping out the processes of screening, and relieving any bottlenecks in resource allocation, to maximize the throughput and create a sustainable system.
