The Laboratory for Gene and Gut-Brain Axis of Parkinson's Disease of National Taiwan University focuses on the identifying disease causative genes, pathogenic mechanism, biomarkers, and development of novel mechanism-directed therapies for Parkinson's disease, a common neurodegenerative disease in an aging society. Based on the polyomics data integration encompassing genomics, transcriptomics and metabolomics, our lab adopts neuronal cells differentiated from induced pluripotent stem cells derived from patients and mice as disease models to explore molecular mechanisms of Parkinson’s disease. The results will bridge to translational research and clinical trials. These strategies from bench to bedside can help improve overall health and quality of life for individuals with Parkinson's disease in the aging populations.
