Prof. Dun-Yen Kang specializes in carbon capture, membrane gas separation, and ultramicroporous materials. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are crystalline nanoporous materials. We identify promising ultramicroporous (d < 0.7 nm) MOFs for CO2 separation and develop wet method for the fabrication of dense MOF membranes. We investigate the properties of MOF membranes for CO2 separation in flue gas or natural gas. We also explore new MOF membranes for hydrogen purification. We are particularly interested in transport mechanism of gases within MOF membranes.
